Dubbed ‘musically combustible’ [Criticks UK] for their vibrant performances, Camerata Academica of the Antipodes brings together a diverse group of talented young multi-instrumental music scholar-performers and researchers, many of whom are active music teachers, and the recipients of prestigious awards for music performance, teaching and research.

Under the direction of musicologist-performer Dr Imogen Coward, their concerts feature instrumental and vocal music from the Baroque to the present day, including specially created arrangements and new works.

Current performance and scholarship is historically inspired, with projects focusing on exploring Baroque repertoire from the early manuscripts and scores and melding this together with contemporary improvisation practices.

The Camerata's season of public concerts in Sydney and regional NSW is pleased to support the work of the Australian Children’s Music Foundation. The Camerata also runs an associate programme to train younger or developing musicians, hosts community lectures by local and visiting scholar-performers to increase the interaction between audience, music-makers and music researchers, and in 2015 developed and facilitated a collaborative cross-divisional music ensemble for employees of a multinational corporation.
