Kimberly Scriven
Kimberley Scriven has studied the recorder in the Historically Informed Performance Department at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music since 2012. In 2015 Kimberley achieved first place in the renowned Historically Informed Performance Concerto Competition. Kimberley’s performances are inspired by the stylistic language and theatrical nature of Baroque music. Through historical research Kimberley draws on the rhetorical style of the composer to inform her own musical interpretation.
Kimberley began her musical education as a student of the Riverina Conservatorium of Music, winning the Major Woodwind Scholarship and prestigious Dr Ray King Scholarship. She went on to teach at the Riverina Conservatorium and engage with the Wagga Wagga community through music and radio presenting. As a result of her community involvement, Kimberley was presented with the Young Citizen of the Year Award for Wagga Wagga in 2010 and was nominated for an Order of Australia Medal.
After finishing her tertiary education at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music this year, Kimberley plans to pursue further study in Europe to develop her technique and performance skills. In the future, Kimberley aspires to perform in a chamber group which shares her enthusiasm for the Baroque and make Baroque music accessible to audiences, especially those in regional Australia.
